"YOU LOOKING GOOD!" One of the biggest challenges for any children's ministry leader is helping the adult congregation recognize that your ministry is a vital part of the kingdom plan for the entire church. Here is Robb & Jacqui Dunham's Step by Step Strategy Outline that really works!
ELEVATING THE PERCEPTION OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES AT YOUR CHURCH.
FORMULATING STRATEGY
B. Get permission to do something once per month for 10 minutes during the adult morning worship service - You sharing with the congregation, or the children performing a song, or a skit, a slide or video presentation with music/narration of children's ministries in action, children's teachers/leaders performing a skit
C. Arrange twice per year to do a children's musical
D. Have a teacher appreciation Sunday - All teachers in Adult Worship Service. Have them come to the front, and have each teacher with a 3 x 5 card with their name, phone number, and ministry, and prayer request. Have members of the congregation come up to teachers and take card to pray for teacher and their ministry.
E. Adopt a Kid - Members of congregation "adopt" children in church to pray for them, and to encourage them at every opportunity.
F. Parents nominated by their kids to "Show and Tell" - Each set of parents rotates with all the others of the kids in the class to come into class for one class session to share their testimony and how they serve the Lord in their workplace. Child introduces his parents, and then parents share for ten minutes. Option to provide a snack. Option to stay for entire class period and help. If help, give them something significant to do.
G. Project a team approach - The whole church is a team. We have common goals of winning children to Christ, and discipling them to grow in Him and serve Him.
This workshop outline is one of a seminar and conference series called "Jump-Starting Your Children's Ministries" conducted by Robb & Jacqui Dunham. Let us know how we can be a resource and a blessing for YOU!

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to "honor thy father and thy mother," she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?" Without missing a beat, one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."
